Sarah Carey

MODERATOR: Sarah is Editorial Director of Food and Entertaining for Martha Stewart Living. In addition to developing recipes for stories in the magazine, she shares her passion for cooking and her deep fount of knowledge about food on her video series Everyday Food on YouTube and marthastewart.com. She received her formal training at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Before joining Martha Stewart in 1999, she worked as a recipe developer for cookbook writer Barbara Kafka and former New York Times food columnist Molly O’Neill. @sarahcarey1


Justin Chapple

Justin is a chef, writer and cookbook author. He is the Culinary Director-at-large of Food & Wine and host of its video series Mad Genius Tips, for which he was nominated twice for a prestigious James Beard Award. Justin is the author of Just Cook It! and Mad Genius Tips. He has been featured in People, O, The Oprah Magazine and Real Simple among others, and appears regularly on NBC’s Today show. Originally from California, Justin moved to New York City in 2003. He’s a graduate of the French Culinary Institute. @Justinchapple


Jake Cohen

Jake is a food writer and recipe developer from NYC. After working at Daniel and ABC Kitchen, he transitioned into media, working in the test kitchen of Saveur magazine before spending time as the Food Editor of Tasting Table and as Restaurant Critic of Time Out New York. He is currently Editorial and Test Kitchen Director of feedfeed, and spends his nights working on his first cookbook, JEW-ISH, which is to be published by HMH, Spring 2021. When not cooking, he’s constantly eating and documenting it on Instagram. @jakecohen


Gaby Dalkin

Gaby is a cookbook author, chef and food/lifestyle writer based in Los Angeles. She launched her popular website, What’s Gaby Cooking, in 2009 after graduating from college. Packed with recipes, the site is a playful, fun, inspiring, sun-soaked destination for anyone who aspires to live the California life. Dalkin is the author of Absolutely Avocados and What’s Gaby Cooking: Everyday California Food and has multiple product lines (salsas, seasonings, olive oils and cheese board kits) carried exclusively at Williams-Sonoma. Cassy Joy Garcia

Cassy is a bestselling author, nutrition consultant and the creative force behind the popular and influential Fed + Fit blog and podcast. In 2011 she created the Fed+Fit Project: A 28 Day Food and Fitness Self Study and began to expand her brand, which included her first book, Fed & Fit: A 28 Day Food & Fitness Plan to Jump-Start Your Life with over 175 squeaky-clean paleo recipes and in 2019, Cook Once Eat All Week: 26 Weeks of Gluten-Free, Affordable Meal Prep to Preserve Your Time & Sanity. Her company is built around nutrition and lifestyle advice, recipes, books, podcasts and collaborations with producers of healthy and environ-mentally sustainable products. Jessica B. Harris

CLOSING KEYNOTE: Dr. Jessica B. Harris is the author, editor or translator of 17 books including 12 cookbooks documenting the foods and foodways of the African Diaspora. She lectures and consults widely in the US and abroad and has written extensively for scholarly and popular publications. Recently retired from Queens College/CUNY after five decades, Harris is the recipient of numerous awards for her work and was recently inducted into the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame. @africooks


Vallery Lomas

Vallery is a lawyer turned baking blogger and food writer. She is best known for winning ABC’s Season 3 of The Great American Baking Show. She has also appeared on CNN, Fox and the Hallmark Channel. Vallery was named one of Business Insider’s “100 Coolest People in Food and Drink,” and her writing has been featured in Taste and Food & Wine. She is currently working on her debut cookbook with Clarkson Potter. @foodieinnewyork



Deb Perelman

OPENING KEYNOTE: Deb is a self-taught home cook, photographer and the creator of smittenkitchen.com. She is the author of The New York Times bestselling cookbooks The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook and Smitten Kitchen Every Day. Deb lives in New York City with her husband and their two children. @smittenkitchen



Megan Scott

Megan is the newest member of the Joy of Cooking clan. She has worked for the cookbook since 2010, when she and now husband John Becker met and immediately bonded over a shared love of blue cheese and Cheddar biscuits. Megan’s culinary education began in the south, where she learned to cook from a long line of matriarchs. She grew up in a farming family, shucking corn and snapping green beans for from as far back as she can remember. She has been a cheesemaker’s apprentice, a baker and an assistant pastry chef, and in addition to her work for Joy, she is the culinary director of a creative culinary agency in Portland, Oregon. @thejoyofcooking
