 How are our scholarship recipients selected?

The LDNY Scholarship Committee selects the scholarship recipients based on their culinary achievements, professional goals and how well their career goals and training match the criteria for the specific scholarships.

The number of scholarships varies from year to year and are awarded to promising young women, pursuing careers in the food, fine beverage and hospitality industries who are currently enrolled in the Participating Schools.

 Who are some previous LDNY scholarship recipients?

The outstanding women who received the LDNY scholarships were interested in pursuing various areas within the culinary arena including: food, communications, nutrition, health, restaurants, education, sustainable food systems and food manufacturing.

 How do I apply for a LDNY scholarship?

To be considered for a scholarship, your application packet must include, in this order:

  • Completed application (page 3)
  • Resumé (no longer than 2 pages maximum)
  • Official transcript from the current institution or most recent college/university
  • A 3-part Essay of 500 words or less, see description on application

 What is the deadline for submitting my application?

Completed applications must be submitted to your participating school’s liaison in sufficient time for your liaison to verify and forward the application as a PDF electronic file to LDNY after January 20, 2020, and no later than March 4, 2020.

Crucial Additional Information:

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • No additional material will be considered in the application process.
  • Applicants awarded scholarships will be notified in late May 2019.
  • A reception for scholarship recipients, mentors and guests will be held in mid July 2019; all scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend
  • No applications will be accepted before Wednesday, January 16, 2019, or after Monday, March 4, 2019.
